Getting started

What Site Planner does

Design a to-scale site plan on a satellite map with fences, structures, products and a quote.

How to use

  • Start a plan from the home page and pick your project address.
  • Draw fences, borders and structures directly on the satellite view.
  • Drag hire products (toilets, bins, fencing) onto the canvas.
  • Save, share a public link, or download a branded PDF quote.

Setup form

Site address

Locates your project on the satellite map.

How to use

  • Type an address and pick one from the Google dropdown.
  • A green pin confirms the coordinates.
  • You can also type a full address manually — we'll geocode it on the next screen.
The address never appears on public share links.

Start & end dates

Sets the hire period and defaults for the quote.

How to use

  • Pick a start date, then an end date.
  • Hire duration is calculated in days or full weeks.
  • You can change these later from the canvas.

Project type

Tunes suggested products for your job (event, construction, etc.).

How to use

  • Choose the closest match — it only affects defaults, not what you can add.

Canvas & tools

Pan & zoom

Move around and zoom the satellite view.

How to use

  • Drag with the mouse or one finger to pan.
  • Scroll wheel or pinch to zoom.
  • Use Recentre to jump back to the site address.
If zoom feels blocked, close any active drawing tool first.

Labels on/off

Shows or hides length and area badges on drawn items.

How to use

  • Toggle to declutter the view before taking a screenshot or PDF.

Map names on/off

Toggles Google's street and place-name labels.

How to use

  • Turn off for a cleaner satellite background.

Hide/show satellite

Replaces the satellite tiles with a plain paper grid.

How to use

  • Use when zooming isn't sharp enough to see small features.
  • Drawn items keep their scale and position.

Rotate map

Rotates the satellite view in 15° steps.

How to use

  • Helpful when your site isn't aligned to north.

Undo

Reverses your last change.

How to use

  • Click Go back, or press Ctrl/⌘ + Z.

Drawing

Draw a fence run

Adds a fence line that snaps to the metre.

How to use

  • Pick a fence product from the Products panel.
  • Click to place points; double-click or press Enter to finish.
  • Drag any vertex to fine-tune.

Property border

Draw your property outline or a garden bed shape.

How to use

  • Click Draw border, then click around the perimeter.
  • Double-click or press Enter to close the shape.
  • Zoom and pan still work inside the border.

Add structure

Trace a house, pool, shed, driveway, garden bed or custom object.

How to use

  • Click Add structure and pick a category.
  • Trace by clicking around the outline; double-click to finish.
  • For 'Other', give it a name — a unique colour is assigned automatically.
Structures show area (m²) and perimeter (m) on the label.

Ruler

Temporary tool to measure distance without drawing anything.

How to use

  • Click Ruler, then click along your path.
  • See live segment lengths and running total.
  • Double-click or Esc to finish; the measurement clears when you exit.

Select & delete

Manage items already on the canvas.

How to use

  • Click an item to select it.
  • Press Delete/Backspace or use the item's delete handle to remove it.
  • Drag vertices to reshape.

Sun & shadows

Sun & shadow simulation

Projects real sun position and shadows for a chosen date and time.

How to use

  • Toggle Sun on, then use the date and time controls.
  • Shadows scale to structure heights.
  • Great for planning garden beds, pools and shaded areas.
Shadow direction follows real solar geometry for your site's coordinates.

Products & accessories

Product library

Drag hire products onto the canvas.

How to use

  • Drag a product from the panel and drop it on the map.
  • Drag placed items to reposition; drag their handle to rotate.

Toilet accessories

Add hand sanitiser, servicing, stands and more to a toilet.

How to use

  • Single-click a toilet to select and drag it.
  • Double-click a toilet to open the accessories dialog.
  • Set quantities and close — extras flow through to the quote.

Legend panel

Summary of what's on the plan.

How to use

  • Collapse or expand to see every product and structure category in use.

Quote summary

Live pricing breakdown by hire, accessories and extras.

How to use

  • Warnings appear if something looks off — dismiss with the close button once addressed.
  • Submit to email the quote to the team.

Saving & sharing

Save a plan

Store your plan to your account so you can come back to it.

How to use

  • Click Save, sign in with a magic link, then name the plan.
  • Your plans appear under My Plans.

My Plans

List of every plan on your account.

How to use

  • Open a plan to keep editing, or delete it if it's no longer needed.

PDF & quotes

PDF preview

Review the branded PDF before you download it.

How to use

  • Click PDF to open the preview.
  • Check the site map, dimensions and quote breakdown.
  • Click Download to save it.

Email quote

Send the quote to the hire team.

How to use

  • Fill in your contact details and submit — the team receives the plan and pricing.

Troubleshooting

Planner won't open after form submit

Usually a missing address or a slow address lookup.

How to use

  • Make sure the site address field has a value.
  • Wait a few seconds — the geocoder is capped at 4s and will let you through.
  • If it still stalls, refresh and try again.

Can't zoom inside the property border

A drawing tool may be capturing pointer events.

How to use

  • Exit the border/structure tool (press Esc or click the tool button again).
  • Zoom should work anywhere on the map.

Shadows look wrong

Check the date, time and that Sun is on.

How to use

  • Sun direction is calculated from your site's coordinates.
  • If the site was entered as a text-only address, geocoding runs on canvas load — give it a moment.
